how do you guys do the white backgrounds? photoshopped, or really shot against a white backdrop?

in this case...my original was a white background then boosted the exposure. there is a pped part in my photo...the back of the girl's neck near her ears were made white because there was a hand fixing her hair =p

I processed mine entirely in Lightroom, then just added some glow in photoshop.

My son's pic was shot in natural light with a black reflector near the ground... The wall is off-white and I metered that @ +1.3EV causing the wall to be near white. Lightroom adjustment as well.
